Cheryl Winterberg Robinson

Cheryl Winterberg Robinson of Clearwater, Florida, formerly of Cinnaminson, New Jersey, went home to be with her Lord on December 1, 2021 at the age of 71.

Cheryl’s greatest joys were serving the Lord through music and spending time with her family and friends. She earned a Bachelor’s in Music Education and a Master’s Degree in Organ Performance from Temple University. Cheryl made good use of her talents throughout her long musical career as a choir director, organist, and accompanist for the former Fellowship Church of Philadelphia, Cinnaminson Public Schools, Sandy Cove Ministries in North East, Maryland, the Cinnaminson Baptist Church, and Keswick Christian School in St. Petersburg, Florida. In addition, she enjoyed arranging music for and performing with her husband and children as the Robinson family brass ensemble.

Both Cheryl and her husband, Paul, were blessed to have grown up in loving, Christian families, and they in turn created a wonderful home filled with care and laughter. She deeply loved her family and many dear friends, spending time with her grandchildren, sharing the beauty of her river-front cabin in Elkton, Maryland, traveling with her husband in their later years, and their golden retriever, Casey. Above all else, her family is eternally grateful for the example Mom and Dad set for them by trusting Jesus Christ as their Savior and Lord and serving him faithfully throughout their lives.

Cheryl was preceded into the presence of the Lord by her loving husband of 48 years, Paul, her parents, William (Bill) and Elizabeth Winterberg, as well as her two older sisters, Elizabeth Scott and Marilyn McGraw. She is survived by her sons, Daniel Paul (Janmarie) Robinson of Buffalo, NY; David William (Carly Dennis) Robinson of Rochester, NY; her daughter, Elizabeth Robinson (Joseph) Steele of Clearwater, FL; and her five beloved grandchildren, Matthew Paul Steele, Harris Charles Robinson, Lydia Marilyn Faith Robinson, Michael Joseph Steele and Dennis Alexander Robinson.

Due to current social distancing guidelines, a private memorial service for Cheryl will be held at the Cinnaminson Baptist Church and interment will take place at Forest Hills Cemetery, Huntingdon Valley, PA.

I just read about Cheryl"s passing. She lived a couple of doors away from me on Howland Street growing up. We called her "Big Cheryl" as there was another Cheryl in our group. We played together all throughout our childhood and time at Creighton. She was only 2 weeks older than me, but everyone thought she was older  ( I was and I am still short) I directed plays on our block and Cheryl liked to perform. She was always practicing her piano though and couldnt come out until that was done. When I got married in 1970, my organist didn't show up, so Cheryl filled in and played the organ. She mostly knew church hymns, so she kept playing "Here Comes The Bride" over and over again.  I am so glad she had a happy life with a large family. She was definitely a part of my fond memories of childhood.

I can still recall sitting in study hall in the auditorium, and watching Cheryl sitting at the organ with a headset on  playing inaudible music to the rest of us who were sitting in our seats. At times, Mr. Zapf would sit next to her, instructing, encouraging, and doing what good teachers do. I never approached her or spoke to her, but I did engage her dad in pleasant conversation while working my summer job. The man was in management and very friendly. I always thought that she was a class act from a good family. Well done good and faithful servant.
