Comments:

Retired and delighted. Prior to retirement, I made a promise about all the reorganizing and clearing of clutter I was doing to do. I am proud of myself that I am actually doing it.

More on retirement: Really enjoying the holiday season - this is the first time in 36 years that I do not have to worry about a holiday schedule at work. I enjoyed nursing. I liked my job. However, during the holidays you had to consider who wanted what days off, e.g. Christmas or New Years. Also if you had Thanksgiving off last year, you had to work it this year. What a relief not to have to think about that.

It is now 2016 - here is my update: still love being retired. Remember Mad Magazine's motto "what me worry"? Mine is "what me hurry?" I pretty much don't have to but am taking swimming classes, still doing music lessons and added learning to shoot pool. No joke. I thought pool was cool since I was 9 years old. Now I am learning to shoot it. I have a teacher who is very patient.

School Story:

actually was class of '66 but missed that year due to an illness, graduating a year later. Fortunately I knew a lot of people in the '67 class

Here is a favorite story that no one who knew me in school will ever believe about me. I am certified in group exercise with AAAI/ISMA, certified personal trainer with Sara City. Also received my black belt in karate in 1986. I a retired from teaching but I still keep up my certifications.

I did everything I could think of inventing to get out of gym. Another exercise teacher and I used to laugh about our high school years. "if our gym teachers could see us now, they would never believe it was the two of us!"

It was delightful and inspiring to have Mr. Josephson as a teacher.  I throughly enjoyed his classes and felt lucky to be in them.  Although he is at peace, I have no doubt he is delighting other souls where he is now.  Also he lives in the hearts and minds of his students who are still here.

I appreciate the music teachers at Olney more now that I am retired.  I went back to piano lessons when I retired and realize how helpful those singing classes were in learning the different keys, rythm - you name it.  Thankful at last (better late than never).  I hope Mr. Nitsche is watching me and saying 'finally, that inept creature is making progress' (it is ok that he says that because I was a mess in class).

Diane was friendly with a great sense of humor.  Sad to hear of the passing of someone with her wonderful qualities.  She will be missed.

I did not meet Charlotte until graduation practice.  What a great sense of humor. I wished I had met her sooner during school.  Sorry to hear of her passing.

I only knew him superficially in one class.  Good looking guy, always pleasant.  Hope his friends and family will be comforted.

I was in high school with Maury but actually did not become friends with him till freshman year at Temple. He  ad a great sense of  humor (and he was very willing to target himself - he was never mean spirited). But  he  had an even greater heart.  He would never hesitate to do a favor or say kind words.  What a loss!

I knew him superficially but he was pleasant and polite to anyone who greeted him.  Sorry to loose another nice person.  May his family be comforted.

Enjoy - you can celebrate double because of New Year's Eve.

Dec 24, 2016 at 8:09 AM

I hope you have a great BD and New Year's celebration. My feelings about December birthdays - no matter if you are Jewish or Christian they steal your thunder! I believe people with December birthdays should get double stuff!! Jan. birthdays - not so good - everybody is dealing with bills and buying more presents is not appealing. Seriously, hope it is great and Happy 2017.
