Joseph Kennedy

oseph F. age 74 of Philadelphia, PA, passed away suddenly and unexpectedly on November 22nd.

‍Joseph, fondly known as Joe, was born to Bernard and Esther Kennedy, on March 4, 1949, in Philadelphia, PA.

Joe was predeceased by his father, Bernard Kennedy, mother, Esther Kennedy, and sister, Mary Ann (Jim) Gallagher.

He was a devoted and loving husband to Rose Kennedy and proud father to Tom (Jen) Kennedy and Joann (Andrew) Miller. Joe was also an adoring step-father to Krista (Jim) Stafford, Jen (Drew) Eisenhofer, and Keith (Beth) McClure. His grandchildren Sofia, Sienna, Jack, Avery, Audrey, Katie, Ryan, and Maura were the light of his life and he absolutely adored being a grandfather.

Joe was born and raised in the Olney section of Philadelphia. In 1967, he proudly joined the United States Navy as an electrician and deployed during the Vietnam War. Joe later retired from the Navy, but his love for the service was always proudly displayed as he was could always be seen wearing a Vietnam Veteran hat or tee shirt. His daughter, Joann, was so proud of her father that she followed his footsteps and also joined the service in the United States Air Force. Joe’s passion for life, after the military, was helping those in the community by running the heating business started by his father. He was a hardworking and dedicated man who never retired from his heating business and continued to honor his fathers’ legacy. He was a loving son to Esther and delighted in throwing her 100th and 105th birthday parties. When he wasn’t working or throwing centennial birthday parties for his mother, he was relaxing with the dogs he loved, boating, or spending quality time with his family at home or on a beach somewhere. You could catch Joe building a sandcastle and collecting shells with his granddaughter, Audrey, or going on a fabulous cruise with his wife and step children. He also thoroughly enjoyed attending the family tradition of Cannstatter’s Labor Day weekend festival. Joe adored his family and spending time with them, as well as his many friends, was the highlight of his life. He never slowed down and lived life to the fullest. Joe was an honest, caring, and genuine man with a heart of gold. He is survived by his wife, children, grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
