Albin Stahl

ALBIN CHARLES STAHL, JR., 64, passed away on July 19, 2012 after many years of battling complications related to diabetes and renal disease. He was in the comfort of his home in Cape May, NJ, surrounded by Elaine M. Stahl, his wife of 44 years, daughters Claudia E. Stahl and Tiffany J. Stahl, and granddaughter Scarlett R. Orangers. He is also survived by sons-in-law Kevin Orangers and Charles N.Gagliardi, and brother-in-law David Stoner.

Prior to relocating to Cape May in recent years, Al spent most of his life in Philadelphia. A member of the Olney High School class of 1967, he excelled in the choir and on the fencing team. Shortly after graduation, Al enlisted in the U.S. Navy Reserve, where he served as a radio operator.

Al began his career in the bubblegum business with the Fleer company, which made him a hero with the children in his Olney neighborhood. He later moved on to the

shoe department at the upscale Bonwit Teller department store, where in addition to serving well-heeled luminaries like Dinah Shore and Liberace, he met the love of

his life, Elaine, who worked there as a buyer in sportswear. They married June 29, 1968. Shortly after the birth of his first daughter, Al accepted a position with SKF USA Inc., where he enjoyed a successful, 40 -year career until his retirement in the fall of 2011.

Al will be remembered by those who knew him for his infectious sense of humor and devotion to faith, family, friends, fishing, and the Fightins (Phillies). He was a cherished father and friend, who celebrated life and never failed to tell his wife and children, “I love you”.

A memorial service for Al will be held on Saturday, July 28, at Cape May United Methodist Church, 635 Washington Street, Cape May, NJ, at 11:30 a.m. In lieuof flowers, donations may be made to the American Diabetes Association, http://www.diabetes.org

After 50 years have passed since graduation, Al still stands out in my mind. I remember a very kind, patient, fellow with a great smile.

So sorry to hear of his passing. Glad to know he had a wonderful family who loved him so much.

RIP my fellow Olney-ite.

While searching for classmates to attend our 5oth Reunion, I had the pleaseure of speaking to Albin Stahl's daughter, Claudia. Undoubtably, this kind, gentle and funny man was an outstanding family man and  father. This became  evident within five minutes of speaking to Claudia. This trait, according to Claudia, transended to all family members. Take one look at  the picture of Albin with his grandchild.... "A picture is worth a thousand words". Albin, I am honored to have known you and so happy to be the recipient of your infectious smile. Rest in peace, my friend.          Kathie Popolo-Jesser

Oh my gosh, what a loss.  Albin and I were good friends our last two years at Olney.  He cared so much about his friends and having a good life.  He came to my rescue one time during our senior year and clearly was a much more mature young man than most.  We lost touch after a couple of years after graduation and I will always regret that.  Clearly after seeing pics of his family and happy times, he had a great life with much love.  So deserved.

Gone, too young and too soon.  He shall be missed for a very very long time.

My condolences to his family.
