Charlie and I were close friends in high school.  What a great career he made for himself! We played chess, read car magazines and listened to music at my house.  We also went crusing together in his Dad's Ford Fairlane or my Dad's Chevy Chevelle - mostly to car dealerships to see the latest hot cars and see what free posters they handled out that we could put on our bedroom walls. The best two were a supercharged Ford Shelby Mustang GT and a Ford Cobra in Langhorne that could have been bought for a mere $10,400.  One weekend he met Valerie (Class of '68, I think) at a party.  He was instantly and permanently smitten!  After that he was still my buddy, but somehow he wanted to spend more time with Valerie than me (smart guy!) He also went around singing the refrain from a song - VA-AL-AL-A-RIE, I love her (smart guy!)
