Barbara Galvin (Harris

Barbara Jean (Galvin) Harris, a resident of Lawndale, passed away on Sunday, May 7, 2017 at Temple University Hospital. She was 68.

Barbara was a 1967 graduate of Olney High School. She was a longtime parishioner of Saint William Church. Barbara was very involved in her community, but especially her fellow “Senior” community as a member of the Salvation Army, Saint William Seniors, Prince of Peace Seniors and the Northeast Older Adult Center. Barbara was the beloved daughter of Regina (Injaychock) and the late Edward “Bud” Galvin. She was the loving wife of Thomas W. Harris; devoted mother of Carl Galvin; cherished grandmother of Celeste, Hannah, Sarah Jane, Steven and great grandmother of Charlotte. She is also survived by her dear sister Patricia Reed (William).

Relatives and friends are invited to her viewing Thursday, May 11, 2017 from 8:15 AM to 9:15 AM at the James M. Campbell Funeral Home, 500 Benner Street, Philadelphia, PA 19111. Her Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 AM in Saint William Church, 6200 Rising Sun Avenue, Philadelphia, PA 19111 and her interment will follow in Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, Cheltenham, PA.

How sad to hear about Barbara even more to hear this news so soon after our 50th reunion.  Another reminder of how precious the time is and how we have to seize every moment. Sending my deepest sympathies to Barbara's family.

Barbara was supposed to be at our reunion.  She purchased 2 tickets.  She was at our 40th & 45th.  While reading today's Inquirer, I saw her obituary but it didn't state anything about her being a graduate of our class. I then checked out the funeral parlor's web site and saw the obit and forwarded it to Ira.  What a shame. Life is short fellow classmates so live, love and be happy.  Sympathies to her family.

I saw this in the paper this a.m. and thought wow close to home for me.  I knew Barbara growing up in the neighborhood.  So sad to hear another good good person has left us.
