Dear Mr Nitsche,

You tried so hard with us, even though we all sang in B-flat, when C major was called for. You were so unbelievably patient with us!

Our beautiful graduation would not have happened without the heroic efforts of you and Mr Zapf.Imagine turning 900 plus Seniors into a cohesive Choir!

Rest in Peace, and enjoy working with the "Heavenly Music", that I'm sure is surrounding you.

I am still using the skills Mr. Nitsche instilled in me at Saint Dominic Roman Catholic Church Choir. I was taught by the best.

My memory of Mr. Nitsche is "everlasting!" I loved his music classes, and appreciate the time when the bible was a daily part of our lives and beginning of our day in high school.  To this day,  I remember Psalm 8, which we had to memorize in its entirety for graduation!  I have always loved the Book of Psalm...reading and memorizing from the age of 10 until now!  Thank you Mr. Nitsche for keeping the Psalms alive in my heart! May you RIP in your heavenly place singing hymns and Psalms!  Darlene (Roundtree) Walker

I appreciate the music teachers at Olney more now that I am retired.  I went back to piano lessons when I retired and realize how helpful those singing classes were in learning the different keys, rythm - you name it.  Thankful at last (better late than never).  I hope Mr. Nitsche is watching me and saying 'finally, that inept creature is making progress' (it is ok that he says that because I was a mess in class).

I was in Mr. Nitsche's class as a senior and he picked me to be in that samll group when we sang at graduation.  I had no voice and I could not figure it out because I was with 15 others who could actually sing.  He told me it was because I could always remember a tune and hum it back if he asked-that was news to me.  But maybe thqat was so because his class was fun even though he could be a tough task master.

So of course I was in Mr. Nitche's choir/class. I sang Jehovah at our graduation. He encouraged me to sing in All City Choir and many opportunities came out of that. However, me and Nitche did not really get along because I never wanted to stay after school for rehearsals so I missed some and he didn't like it. As an only child, I wanted to ride the bus home with my friends!! But he was a wonderful choir director. RIP sir.
